Ferris and I are leaving today to head to Cincinnati in order to have some tests run on the twins. I have debated on whether to blog about this or not, but I want the Lord to receive glory through this situation and to get your prayers, so here is the lowdown.
There is a condition that about 10% of identical twins get called TTTS (Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome). You can read all about it
here and
here. When this condition isn’t treated, it is very serious. Thankfully, our girls only have a mild case that has progressed very slowly. The girls are actually very healthy. In fact, they are nearing the threshold of having great survivability chances if they have to be born. The tricky thing is, this condition can take a dramatic turn for the worse overnight, so even if the babies look good today, there is no guarantee on what can happen tomorrow.
There is a specialist in Cincinnati who literally is one of the best in the world with this condition. This clinic also is one of only a few that perform a new laser surgery that can be done up to 26 weeks. We turn 27 weeks on Thursday, so if we decide to have the surgery after the consultation, tomorrow is the last day it can happen.
We are thankful the Lord opened up this door to have some of the best people in the world giving us treatment options so that we can make an informed decision about how to proceed. Everything we have gotten so far has been very vague, so something definitive will be nice.
We know that God is working all things out in this situation for the good, and we are incredibly blessed. The lyrics of the song
Sun Stand Still keep coming to mind, that nothing is too hard for our God, and we are resting in that truth. Things right now look good for the twins, but we are doing what
Pastor Steven said during the
Sun Stand Still series, and pray while we push. Doing everything we can do while we trust God to do what only He can do. Please pray that God will give us wisdom and that He will protect the babies and Ferris. We will keep you posted throughout the week.
My wife and I will definitely be praying for you and your family!

I had open heart surgery when I was 9 days old in Cincinnati, and the doctors are great. I hope you get some answers, and I will be praying for Ferris, the twins, and you.

I have twin cousins who are now 4 years old and were born at 29 weeks. They also had twin to twin. Their story is nothing shy of a miracle. One weighed 1 pound and 3 ounces and the other 3 pounds and 1 ounce. They are absolutely perfectly fine with no complications! I would be glad to share their story with you to give you some encouragement. I know you are feeling overwhelmed and feel so out of control. Just remember who is in control of ALL things.
I have a family member who also just had a child born with a severe life threatening deformity called Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and he was only given a 40% survival rate. She blogged the entire journey and it is an AMAZING testimony to her faith and TRUST in the Lord. Her blog is www.babydellinger.blogspot.com. You MUST read it! She hasn't blogged in some time since bringing him home but you can go back and read all her blogs. THEY ARE AMAZING. She even references to some of Pastor Steven's sermons. Keep me updated on their progress and I will be sure to pray for you and your family.

Congratulations! Those are beautiful names. You and Ferris (and those girls!) have been so strong, courageous, and audacious in your prayers in the last week. I pray that you continue to be so as you go through the next several days and weeks. Your "sun stand still" prayer reminds me of Pastor Steven's sermon used in the One Prayer series. My prayer for all of you is that together you'd seek to ask Him to move mightily on your behalf, doing all that He has in mind. I firmly believe that the way the Lord has given you all peace and courage in the last week that nothing can hinder Him from fulfilling your prayers. That audaciousness is all He needs to be given the chance to move and do the miraculous and unexpected.
You're all in my prayers!
