What would you do with 30 seconds?
At Elevation, the longest you will usually hear a worship leader talk during the worship experience is around 30 seconds. We have taken a minute before, but that is rare since we don't have a lot of time to begin with. Each verbal transition, therefore, is very intentional and thought through.
Here is what we discussed last week in our worship leader meeting. If we have 30 seconds to say something, how can our words be used most effectively? What I keep going back to is that the word of God needs to be the foundation of all that we say.
Consider this.
I can tell you to lift your hands at a certain point in a song. Most will do it. Many will not realize why, and may just think it is a way for the worship leader to feel like people are digging the song.
Instead of that, I could tell you that Psalm 134:2 gives this command: "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord." The call to raise our hands is biblical, it is an outward expression of praise that God desires.
Which carries more weight?
Let's press in deep to the word of God, for it is there that we find our power.
I love the intensity, seriousness, and passion with which all three of you guys approach leading worship at Elevation. Thank you for that. Thank you for taking the time to think through those kinds of things.
