Our Volunteers

Last Sunday night we had a prayer event at the warehouse which will eventually be our new Matthews Campus and our first permanent facility. Hundreds of volunteers showed up for a time of prayer and worship as Pastor Steven cast the vision for what this place would mean for us. 

The thing that got me so excited as I moved to different prayer station with our volunteers was to hear their excitement, not about a cool new building, but rather an expectancy for the thousands of lives that will be changed by Jesus at this campus. I love the heart of our volunteers. Their passion for Jesus. Their weekly sacrifice and service to the vision of Elevation so that we can reach a city with the gospel. And their perspective that this building is not the end goal, but is just a taste of what's to come.

The Broken And The Tired

Someone asked me to post the lyrics of The Broken and The Tired, which is one of our new original songs. I had a good conversation the other day with a friend about the healing power of Jesus. We so often think of healing only in the physical sense, but the power of Jesus to heal is total. No matter the depth of our emotional pain, the regrets from past experiences or the burdens that seem overwhelming, Christ offers rest. He gives peace. He desires to restore us. There is no stronghold that He can't break in our lives. And we offer our lives back to Him as our response of worship. 

I love this song, and I pray these lyrics serve as an encouragement to you.

Miracle

I shared this on my twitter last week, but the Lord has answered some big prayers with our girls. During their time in the hospital, I prayed every day that not only would they be healthy, but that they also would be more advanced developmentally than a full term baby. That seemed like a pretty audacious prayer to pray for this reason. The girls are almost 5 months old, but are only supposed to be doing what a 2 month old is doing because they are preemies. In addition, because of things like Liana's brain bleed, they would be expected to be further behind. 

Last week both girls had a doctor's appointment and their physician was amazed at their progress. In fact, she said that both were advanced and doing what normal 4 month old babies were supposed to do. Also, Liana had her first physical therapy appointment last week. She has these because babies with a brain bleed like hers are at a higher risk for developmental issues. Her therapist was very impressed with Liana and said that babies with her history should not be doing this well! Once again, people are blown away with the progress our girls have made.

Ferris and I are so thankful and in awe as we have seen Jesus specifically answer our prayers. Our girls truly are miracles. We sang a new song this past Sunday by Chris Tomlin called My Deliverer, and all I could do while leading that song was think of how The Lord has showed Himself strong on behalf of Liana and Adleigh. Hopefully these lyrics will encourage you to continue to press in closer to Jesus, knowing that those who trust in Him will never be put to shame.

I will wait for you to move
